This likely comes as news to nobody, as I’m a couple of weeks late in announcing this – AIF #12 is up at Bug Girl’s Blog. Posted on Martin Luther King’s birthday, Bug Girl thought maybe it was a stretch to use it as an excuse to celebrate the earth’s most diverse taxon – but I’ll buy it! EO Wilson shares quote honors with MLK as Bug Girl draws on a baker’s dozen of submissions for inspiration in rising to MLK’s call for painstaking excellence. It’s an issue well worth bookmarking.
The next issue of AIF will be hosted by Michael Barton at The Dispersal of Darwin! Coming as it does in the month of February, the month of Darwin’s birth, Michael is planning a special Darwin issue. Any beetle posts looking at history of science connected to beetles, naturalists who worked on beetles, etc. are encouraged. I’ll be giving this one some thought myself as I post during the next two weeks. Submit your best beetle post (or two!) from the past month directly to Michael, or use this handy submission form if you prefer (you can also leave a comment at his announcement post). February 15 is the deadline, and the issue will appear 2-3 days afterward.
Also, as always, we are looking for potential hosts for future issues of AIF. Dave Hubble at Dave Hubble’s ecology spot has just volunteered for the May slot, but all subsequent slots are available. If you’re interested, leave a comment or send me an email and let me know which month you wish to host.
